Cast brass. Note single dot on back of belt loops. With its smooth casting and finely shaped letters, this was the most attractive of the 1839 pattern artillery plates. It was a common style with a matching series of one, tow or three dots punched in the belt loops as assembly numbers. The same unidentified contractor supplied artillery plates displaying letters “SNY”. After regular artillerymen switched to the 1851 eagle-wreath plate.
