They were excavated around CW battlefields which documents their widespread use. This item found in Bedford Co. Tenn. Front and back are identical. In the collection of Jerry and Susie Hayes. 

The belt is made of 8 oz. leather, length is custom fit to customer's size with a brass Oval loop with pin and 2 keepers. Available in Russet, Black or Natural Oiled. This belt is made to the dimensions of your buckle.
