This sling will fit the 1863 Model Henry with the sling loops measuring 27" apart as per "The Henry Rifle" by Les Quick. Made from 6-7oz. vegetable tanned russet-dyed leather measuring 47" long x 1-3/16"wide and hand sewn with waxed linen thread. It has a 1-1/2" brass harness buckle, a brass stud to fold over and secure one end, and a Japanned swivel hook on other end. Available in Russet only (other colors by request).
Historical Citation:
Copied from one in the possession of Paul Walker from PA, who states “Of approximately 14,000 rifles produced, only some were fitted for slings.” From his close study of this sling, it is believed the sling was blackened and that the brass stud was also Japanned.
