Cast brass and cast star applied over original eagle motif. Unusual plate with Ames style wreath. Star plates were frequently worn by police and military suppliers having converted his excess 2 piece eagle plate. This might be a CS conversion of a pre-war militia plate. It belongs to the confederate plates section of a represented early collection — Virginia Historical Society.
